Britain always seems to send failed politicians to the EU, those who have been sacked for some misconduct or other, or those who have been rejected by the people. The last two were from the latter category, Kinnock stood for election as leader of the Labour party twice and was soundly rejected by the electorate, not until the late John Smith took over as leader did the Labour party begin to make headway. Really the less said about the ex MP Chris Pattern the better, but since being ousted by the people of Bath he has managed to land one plumb job after another, but I am sure he will retire happily with his EU pension safe in the knowledge that no matter how much money he passed to the Palestinian terrorists he is safe from being held to account for his actions.
The point really is that these people who have shown themselves incompetent in one way or another end up in Brussels with well paid jobs, simply because of their contacts with the “powers that beâ€. By appointing these people to these position of power the “powers that be†clearly show their contempt for the people who elect them and for acceptable norms of behaviour.
As an EU Commissioner they have no responsibility to produce anything, or to meet any measurable criteria, all on the back of the people who did not elect them and have no say in their appointments, yet it is us who have to pick up the bill for their seemingly charmed life and us that have to pick up the bills for their decisions.
Now to continue with the theme of sending dead-weights to the EU Commission where they will be responsible for making the greater part of the laws you and I have to obey Mr Blair has selected another failure in the shape of Peter Mandelson
Obviously, Mr Blair has judged that Mandy has all the right personal qualities to become a member of the EU Government elite.
After twice being forced to resign from the Labour government for corruption, the first time in December 1998 over a secret loan at special rates, the loan of £373,000 from Geoffrey Robinson was used to buy an expensive house in Notting Hill in London. After his mate Tony had given Mandy a second chance and brought him back into the Cabinet, he was forced to quit a second time in January 2001 over allegations of misconduct for lobbying on behalf of Dome supporters over a passport application for the billionaire Hinduja brothers, who were at the time up to their necks in the biggest arms scandal in the history of independent India.
This failed corrupt Ex minister, an ex member of the Young Communist League and Lambeth council, during its “loony left” days Mandy otherwise know as the “Prince of Darkness” and widely disliked in the Labour Party because of his mixture of spin, bullying and manipulation when in power, is to become one of the untouchables at the heart of the EU Commission who are instrumental in making around 80% of the laws we have to obey.
But that’s what mates are for, and when your mate is the Prime Minister, it seems nothing else matters but to make sure your mate is looked after and placed in a powerful well paid job at the expense of the people.
Along with a great pay packet generous travel and entertaining allowances, moving expenses housing expenses and tax breaks, one further very valuable perk that may well be much appreciated by an EU Commissioner is the perk of being placed above the law. It would appear that not being content with being un-answerable to the people at the ballot box and not accountable to anyone else, these people also expect the right to be above the law, so if a policeman come knocking they have immunity to the Laws of this or any country.
One could be forgiven for thinking that these carbuncles on the back of society had found the Holy Grail. I am sure this must be a great blessing to Mandy and all his ilk and will allow them to rest easily at night.
The only silver lining in the EU cloud, is that with enlargement of the union we now only have one of these parasites with which to contend.
