More MPs than we need, say Tories

Telegraph :

“More than 100 MPs could be ousted from the House of Commons under cost-cutting proposals revealed yesterday by the Conservatives.

The plan would see the number of sitting members fall to about 550 from the current 659. With each MP costing more than £200,000 a year in salary, pension and expenses, the cut could save taxpayers £20 million a year, the Tories claimed.

Oliver Heald, the Shadow Commons leader, said: ‘The public is entitled to effective representation, but we have more MPs than we need. It is an issue of value for money.’”

This is a move in the right direction but as usual with the Tories recently, they have failed to fully grasp the nettle. As most of our law is now made in the EU and cannot be changed or refused, by the British parliament why on earth do we need anything like this number of MP`s, they literally have nothing to do.

There is no the point whatever in having a representative in a parliament without the powers to make or change our laws, these people themselves have given away their own powers and most of their responsibilities. By failing over the years to ensure that they retain the power to truly represent their constituents and hold the executive to account they have made themselves redundant.

In my view as now over 60% of law is under the control of the EU there should be the same reduction in the number of MP`s, as and when more of their power is given away, there should be a corresponding reduction of MP`s at the next election.

Ministers and in fact whole Ministries could well be done away with under the same rules. What is the point of having a minister, who can not make the law and cannot change the rules.

Unless of course seeing that December is fast approaching and their own end in sight they all suddenly become much more interested in doing their jobs properly, and start to demand the power be returned to them, and start to stand up for us the British people, and start to recognise the fact that by their own incompetence, they are conniving in the destruction of Britain as an independent nation state.

As these geese have been voting for Christmas for so long unless they do the right thing and put a stop to this EU nonsense, it is time we the people started to sharpen the knives.

The Government’s Research Papers

From Anne Palmer

These are excerpts from The Government’s Research Papers 04/77 dated 21st October 2004. On Part 1V and Protocols of the Treaty ESTABLISHING a Constitution for Europe.

I make these notes, not only for encouraging those interest parties where to look for quickness, but also for those that do not have a computer, or have time to go into detail or perhaps do not have ‘pdf’ facilities.

Taken from “Summary of main points.

The final edited text was published on 6th August 2004 as CIG 87/04 with Addendums 1 and 2 containing protocols and Declarations respectively. (My Comments, has anyone seen the whole Constitution as one Article –that can fit into the pocket? Has anyone seen this document that the Government is going to sign on 29th October 2004?)
