It`s Not Our Fault Honest Guv!

The EU Commision is again promoting its Euromyth policy, they have launched a new web site Get Your Facts Straight paid by our taxes, in a clear attempt to create an argument against those who question the very basis of EU control of the our lives, apparently this putsch is supported by the British government, (well there`s a surprise) which has long complained of Euroscepticism in the British press.

The only problem the Commission has is that most of these so called Euromyths are based on the truth; the Commission is upset, not about them being untrue, but about the public being fully informed of the EU and its affects on the British people.

They trot out the same old so called myths, telling the same old lies about how the Commission did not intend this to happen, or some other department is making a mistake or the British government or some local authority is misinterpretation the rules, but all of their eulogising about the magnificent compassionate EU, completely misses the fact that we have to obey the rules as they are imposed on us, not as the commission would like us to believe was the real reason for their implementation.

When a newspaper states that the EU has introduced a directive limiting the time a tractor driver spends working, it is no argument for the EU to call this a myth and then to explain the reasons behind the directive, the Newspaper has made a truthful report on the effects of the EU on our day to day life, it is not a myth, it is not an Euromyth it is not a lie, it is nothing more than the truth. In the same way the old bent banana and bent cucumber myths these are not lies they are the truth the EU has directives on both of these, to explain that they were asked to introduce standards does not make the original report untrue.

The Commision is attempting to build a case against British Eurosceptics that is itself built on myths, they are attempting to move the truly important debate on our place in the EU and the lack of democracy and accountability in the EU itself, onto peripheral insignificant areas of little real concern, and by so doing, they are attempting to portray the Eusceptic argument itself as being built on lies and misrepresentation.

Here is another true statement that the EU Commission would like to explain away as a myth? For the past ten years the EU own accountants have refused to sign the EU`s accounts, because the EU cannot explain where they have spent our money, they cannot show where that money has gone. It could well be stashed away in numbered Swiss bank accounts for all we or the EU accountants know, and no amount of explaining is going to alter the fact that the EU cannot even convince the people they employ where that money has gone.

Instead of trying to convince us all with even more of our money being spent on EU propaganda, how about if they started to make inroads into the undemocratic and unaccountable nature of the EU itself. How about if instead of Margot Wallstrom, the new Communications Commissioner, whose job is to improve the EU`s image telling us all whole lot more lies, she were to explain why it is that we the people do not have a say in any of the EU rules laws and directives that are pouring out of this unelected construction. How about if she were to explain exactly how it is that by removing the ability for us to elect our own law makers, the EU is somehow improving our democracy?

A Warning Voice

A Warning Voice

We have a pro-European and anti-Constitution majority in the UK. So says Dr Caroline Lucas Green Party MEP for South-East England. I wonder how Dr Lucas knows this rather interesting statistic, or in fact the following; Until recently the EU has only changed and adapted at a pace which is acceptable to Europe’s citizens.

As the Pro-EU protagonist will insist on calling the EU Europe as if they are one and the same thing when they are patently not, I will insist on defining their Europe as the EU. I will not allow them to associate my dislike for this undemocratic unaccountable institution called the EU, with either the countries or the peoples of the European continent; I am pro-Europe but totally anti-EU.

As one of the major complaints about the EU is that it does not depend on the democratic choice of the people but is designed to remove the ability of the people to have any control of the process of EU integration, it is interesting that this view should be promulgated by an EU MEP. One who nevertheless goes on…?

“The cheerleaders of the proposed EU constitution – including the 500 MEPs who voted in favour of it in Strasbourg this week – are putting the entire project of European co-operation in danger.
In their zeal for further integration, they risk driving a nationalistic wedge between member countries and could jeopardise the real benefits the EU has brought in terms of coming together to address the social and environmental problems that can only be tackled through international co-operation.”

A rejection of the internationalism implicit in European integration and a return to nationalism would be a disaster for Europe and the wider world. If the political class does not address the legitimate concerns of the sceptical public about the EU then nationalism could be the result.”

This is itself an indication of the thinking that totally misses the real problems of the EU as seen through the eyes of a Eusceptic.

The EU is nothing to do with international or European co-operation, something that is recently shown by the quick and efficient agreements between America Australia Japan and Indian governments, who without removing one iota of their individual authority decided to act as one to bring first aid on a massive scale to the Tsunami victims, none of these governments gave away the ability to decide for themselves what was best for their own countrymen to an overarching authority, none of these sovereign countries removed the ability of their citizens to change their governments or their policies, by acting through international co-operation on this one issue.

Nationalism is not dirty word self-government, independence, freedom, choice, are not dirty words they simply mean the ability of self-determination. For the EU this may well be a disaster, because the EU would deny all of these beliefs in its drive to control the peoples of Europe, but these are the ideas we have fought and died for over the generations, these are the concepts that we understand to mean the freedom to choose to live in the way we wish, so who really cares if the EU does not appreciate the strength and power of self determination and as it does not then why should we care what those in power think.

Until those who are part of this undemocratic process accept that the people have a basic right to decide their own government and to be ruled by their own laws, there is simply no way forward for the EU, it is destined to founder on the rocks of democratic power, and if the people that are being forced to support this unaccountable institution are not to be allowed to control the process, this construct will sink in the sea of voices that will rise up in protest at the indifference these so called leaders show for the very basic rights of all free men.

There is only one way this system has existed thus far, and that is by denying the people a voice, as the first stirrings of the waves of protest to come, start to cause alarm bells to be sounded in the faction of the indifferent, and unaccountable they should understand that it will be useless for the apologists for the intergrationalist to claim a mandate they simply do not have, because they and their despotic techniques will be swept away on the crests of the rising antipathy their methods have wrought.
