Member states would salvage what they could from the constitution - including the idea of an EU foreign minister and president - and try to push through a separate treaty when the dust has settled.”

No national parliament would behave like this - not because MPs are more virtuous than MEPs, but because they know they couldn’t get away with it. In Brussels, however, there is no public scrutiny to speak of. Turnout has fallen at every European election since 1979, and MEPs are all but anonymous. They can afford to disdain their constituents. more »”

EU Constitution is of great significance to the future of European Monarchies

the Constition has great significance in relation to the constitutional position of monarchs as heads of State Duhamel pointed out that the EU is not only formally a republic, but there is supposed to be considerable citizen participation as well. In this regard the EU Constitution is of great significance to the future of European Monarchies. From what I understand he suggested that they would have to be stripped of any remaining Constitutional role as it would be incompatible with the democratic process.”

The worst possible Eusceptic scenario

For the Conservatives to use the EU as a winning formula they need to continually over their period in opposition, show exactly how the Labour policies, many of them extremely unpopular, are being directed by agreements at the EU level, and then to propose and market an alternative to EU membership. To jump on the EU as a last chance to save their campaign from going down the drain, would be the worst thing they could do, because if the poll is right they have already lost the election and nothing is going to save them.”

The EU will become a state with all the aspects of a regular state. will reduce them to regions or provinces. The EU constitution will stand above the national constitutions of the member states. The term constitutional agreement is not precise and will have only temporary validity. replacing it with a new type of sovereignty, an all-European sovereigntyCitizens of EU member states will become EU citizens with rights and duties coming straight from this European state Member states will only be able to use the authority left to them by the constitution and not the other way around,The EU and not its member states will have the ultimate authority to seal most international agreements with other countries. The constitutional agreement reduces the voting power of smaller member statesThe EU is able to widen its authority by the ‘flexibility clause’ or ‘bridging clause.’”

The Steady Erosion of our Rights

New Labour is Authoritarian, and possibly the most Authoritarian government that this country has suffered under for several hundred years. However, to lesser degree, so are all the other main political parties. There is no political voice that will stand against them and not just slow down the erosion but reverse it and restore the freedoms that have been lost. “

Will Labour further Weaken Parliment

Eurealist :: Main Page: “Will Labour further Weaken Parliment
by Eurealist on April 16, 2005 08:37AM (BST)
Lord Strathclyde is probably right, Tony Blair and the New Labour apparatchiks have already show their total distain for parliamentary procedure, along with anything else which can stand in the way of the elected house, preferring to believe that the largest party in the commons is entitled to absolute control. Unfortunately the Conservatives have not exactly covered themselves in glory when it comes to protecting the British constitution, in the main they have taken the line of least resistance as the Blair camp have progressively attacked and undermined all of the blocks against an overpowering executive. “

Germany not to raise contribution to EU budget

Eurealist :: Main Page: “Germany not to raise contribution to EU budget
by Eurealist on April 15, 2005 04:25PM (BST)
Xinhua - English BERLIN, April 14 (Xinhuanet) — German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said here on Thursday his country will not raise its contribution to the European Union’s budget. Speaking to reporters after meeting European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, the chancellor also expressed his doubts over whether EU’s new budget would be adopted at a summit in June. ‘We have no leeway for movement,’ he said, vowing that Germany will not pay more to the EU than its present maximum rate of 1 percent of EU’s collective GDP. Germany, the largest contributor to EU’s budget, currently pays about 20 percent of the EU’s annual budget of 100 billion euros (about 128 billion US dollars). Barroso expressed his hope that compromise will be made. ‘A compromise is needed,’ he said. He noted that if leaders failed to reach agreement on the budget issue in June, it will be difficult for EU leaders to reach deal later”

On may the 29th 2005, French people will vote on the so called « European constitution ». If the vote is « Yes » it will be the end of democracy and freedom in this country, and it will be the end of France who will disappear in the EU. For the moment, millions of euros are flown to our opponents to convince French people to surrender, to abandon freedom, sovereignty and that it is desirable to leave the principle of self government and to make France to die! This is not acceptable! This is not acceptable! Who can accept that France, who as always shown the world the way to freedom, will disappear? “
