Emancipation

British politicians are members of political parties and a part of this association take up an off-hand attitude towards those of the social community they represent. In many cases the electorate are considered to have a limited role of electing them into office through a system managed, funded and manipulated in favour of political parties. The political role of the electorate is not that of sovereign individuals to be served by representatives but of a rabble to serve the ends of political parties. Once elected, the political party exercises a somewhat scurrilous behaviour involving the manhandling of elected members to discourage them from representing the interests of the sovereign individuals who elected them to representing the exclusive interests of their political party in Parliament. This behaviour parallels a form of repetitive and illigitimate coup whereby Britain’s tiny private political parties can gain control of national governance from a base of memberships of no more than 0.5% of the electorate and a total electorate support of less than 20%.

Pipe down! Brussels slaps a noise order on heart of Scotland - Times Online

The prospect of more subdued bagpipes will be welcomed by some, but musicians have warned performances will suffer.

Pipe majors claim it is virtually impossible to play quietly or to tune a band when the musicians are wearing earplugs, raising the prospect of a cacophony at showcase events such as the Edinburgh military tattoo.

The rules in effect limit practice without earplugs to about 15 minutes a day.

While piping schools have begun issuing students with hearing protectors, pipe majors are preparing to make a stand.

Ian Hughes, head of the RAF Leuchars band at an airbase in Fife, claimed the new legislation in effect outlawed bagpipe playing for the first time in more than 250 years.

The last time was after the Jacobite rising of 1745 and the defeat of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s clansmen at the battle of Culloden.

“These limits are far too low. If we have to go with these regulations, pipe bands won’t exist,” said Hughes. “Every pipe band in the world will be above the maximum volume level.

“Bringing in a law making pipers wear ear protection means the playing of pipes is outlawed. Earplugs take away the clarity of the sound and create a problem if you’re trying to tune a band up to a certain standard.

“You can’t play the pipe quietly; they haven’t got a volume switch.”

The rules are part of the control of noise at work regulations, introduced by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) following a Brussels directive.

The rules cap weekly average noise exposure at 85 decibels, meaning periods of loud play need to be cancelled out by quiet periods. The idea is not to protect audiences at concerts but performers and other staff.

The lethal effects of a poisonous legacy - Telegraph

The delay in releasing the tally of votes has only one cause: the need to fix the count so that Mugabe can claim to have “won” an election he has clearly lost. The dismal decision by Zimbabwe’s courts to uphold the government’s failure to provide any count of votes at all, three weeks after the country went to the polls, demonstrates Mugabe’s continuing ability to intimidate officials who, in theory, ought to be independent of his power.

Stop the CO2 scare, before it’s too late - Telegraph

The report’s most startling passage, however, is one that examines the “fingerprint” of warming at different levels of the atmosphere which the computer models come up with as proof that the warming is man-made. The pattern actually shown by balloon and satellite records is so dramatically different that, even on the IPCC’s own evidence, the report concludes, “anthropogenic greenhouse gases can contribute only in a minor way to the current warming, which is mainly of natural origin”.

The significance of this can scarcely be overestimated. At just the moment when, thanks to the overwhelming pressure generated by the IPCC, the world’s politicians, led by the EU, are committing us to spending untold trillions of pounds, dollars and euros on measures to “mitigate” the claimed effects of man-made warming, here is a galaxy of experts producing hard evidence that - if the problem exists at all - the official explanation for it is oriented in wholly the wrong direction.

VAT reforms: another failure at EU Summit - NEW EUROPE - The European News Source

The European Union Summit last week failed to see one of the crucial points under consideration at the first meeting under the Slovene presidency of the European Council and the subject is set for some bitter debate in coming months before hopefully a final deal is approved under French presidency. Among the first to put the proposal forward was Britain’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown saying that environmentallyfriendly products should be sold at a lower rate of VAT than less clean goods

I said this before but it is worth repeating we used to have a government that had the power to govern

Global Politician - Churchill Never Meant For Britain To Be In The European Union

Winston Churchill’s speech in Zürich on 19 September, 1946 about a European union has at times been misquoted, misinterpreted and misapplied. French President Sarkozy addressed the British Parliament on 26 March, 2008. In an attempt to persuade (some say flatter and seduce) Britain into the European Union, given the upcoming ratification process of the Lisbon Treaty - an act which will inevitably result in her loss of sovereignty, self-rule and freedom, Sarkozy referred to Sir Winston Churchill by saying: “No one will ever forget that the first great voice which rose up after the war to call on Europe’s peoples to unite was that of the statesman who had alone embodied the passionate resistance of the British nation. No one will ever forget that the name of Europe’s first father was Winston Churchill.

Thirty-five years ago, the United Kingdom chose Europe. Today, more than ever before, Europe needs the United Kingdom and the United Kingdom needs Europe.”

However, Mr Sarkozy did not refer to the fact that Churchill never inferred or intended that Britain should be part of a European Union. On the contrary, he referred to Britain as part of the British Commonwealth of Nations – not part of Europe. His proposal was instead that a United States of Europe include a partnership between France and Germany – not Britain.

SNP urged to hold Euro treaty vote - Scotsman.com

The Scottish Government was urged to look into the possibility of Scotland holding its own referendum on the European Reform Treaty.
Delegates at the SNP’s spring conference passed a resolution calling on the administration to investigate the potential of having a consultative referendum.

The Labour Westminster Government has so far rejected demands to hold a referendum, arguing that the treaty which was signed in Lisbon is different from the previous proposed EU Constitution.

Alex Orr, from the party’s Merchiston and Morningside branch, said: “Of course the spin and gloss that has been put out on the Treaty is that it is different from the constitution negotiated in 2004.”

But he added: “What is absolutely certain is that all the major constitutional innovations remain.”

Catholic World News : European Council calls for end to abortion bans

The parliament of the Council of Europe has approved a non-binding resolution calling for all European nations to legalize abortion.

By a vote of 102- 69, the parliament passed a resolution affirming the “right to choose.” Proponents of the measure argued that legal bans do not prevent abortion but merely drive the practice underground (an argument that American proponents of legal abortion have confessed they put forward without evidence). Gisela Wurm, the Austrian lawmaker who sponsored the resolution, said that laws against abortion are a form of violence against women.

A Common European migration policy is backed - NEW EUROPE - The European News Source

The second in a series of pamphlets offering cross-party solutions to key policy challenges was presented in the European Parliament by MEP Graham Watson of the United Kingdom, on “Making Migration Work for Europe” featuring essays by nine MEPs from different political groups. “Managing migration effectively is one of the greatest challenges facing the European Union today. For too long Europe’s response has been uncoordinated at best, ill-considered at worst. We should abandon the model of migration management that stops at national borders. Some first steps towards EU cooperation have been made in the fight against illegal migration but we must not stop there.

Yes of course it is but it also undermines our sovereignty as a nation state.
