When Norman Tebbit in response to a question – that rioting was the natural reaction to unemployment said;
I grew up in the ’30s with an unemployed father. He didn’t riot. He got on his bike and looked for work, and he kept looking ’til he found it.
Ever since then Tebbit and in fact the whole Tory party have been branded as uncaring swine by the Labour Party and that phrase has always been interpreted as being the true nature of Tory principles.
Now Peter Mandelson and Caroline Flint, the Europe minister have told British Workers who are striking over the loss of jobs to foreigners,
“they can go and work elsewhere in Europe if they were unhappy”
Tebbit made a comment about his own father and his own life in the 1930 in response to rioting: caring New Labour have directly told British workers to leave the country to look for work! These workers are not rioting yet! I can see a distinct difference between the two.
Was the Gordon Brown promise of British Jobs for British Workers meaningless piffle? Well as he had no power to ensure British Jobs against EU open border rules, it seems it was, and Lord Mandy has just put him right, our government cannot look after British workers, British Jobs, or even British business without flaunting EU rules and this no one seems to be prepared to do.
So when the election time arrives do not forget today and then let us see where the political parties stand on protecting British Jobs, if they say the cannot they are being honest, if they say they can but then do not go on to address the EU influence on our jobs they are lying, If they say they will renegotiate they then need to tell us what they will do when those negotiations fail— if they say they will stay in the EU then they are not going to be able to look after British Jobs.
