Conservative Eurosceptic MPs receive CAP payments

eu-payResponding to the news that three leading Conservative Eurosceptic MPs receive CAP payments totalling  £526,547 for their farms, Brendan Donnelly, treasurer of the European Movement, said:

“I think there is an irony, an inconsistency that there are some high profile Conservatives who benefit greatly from the workings of the common agricultural policy.”

We are thus invited to think that those in receipt of EU based funding should automatically support both the funding stream and the EU.

This of course is not the argument used when ex EU commissioners are raised to the House of Lords, where their respective pensions and other payments are deemed to have no influence whatever on their decisions.

The more CAP you dig, the more likely EU is going to fall soon. Being eurorealist and eurofarmer goes hand in hand for me.
